Silver sparkles and Valentine's day rant.

I realized I had neglected my blog. I had to correct that and so I made this "tutorial". Why it is only a "tutorial", is because I only remembered to take the pictures in the beginning and when I had put on all the eyeshadows and some eyeliner. Not a very detailed tutorial, if I may say so myself.

I used silvers, blacks and whites. I used silver and black eye liner. And black mascara that is a disappoiment. I will write a separate blogpost about that, I wont even say which one it is that I used in this look. There's so much hype about it, and I have tried it so, so many times, applied it in several different ways, but it really is not good. Take a look at the pictures if you doubt me.

The picture below shows you all the products I used. I used NYX's Jumbo Eye shadow pencils in Black Bean and Pots & Pans. I depenciled them because I don't like them as pencils, it is so much easier to apply them from these pots. I also used Katie's Storm and Graffiti from Glamour Doll Eyes. The round eyeshadows are from NYX 5 color shadow palette from the Caribbean collection. The palette's name is I dream of Barbados.

I first put Pots & Pans on the inner 2/3 of the upper lid and the rest is Black Bean.

Katie's Storm in the very inner corner, light silver/gray, then the darker shimmery soot color in the inner part of the outer half of the lid and the outer V. Graffiti to the outer corner between the darker shimmery soot color eyeshadow. (In this picture above, you can actually see my eyebrows when I haven't done anything to them. In the other pictures I have used an eyebrow pencil.)

I put some matte white eyeshadow to the inner corner and a shimmery white eyeshadow as a highlight and to blend in the darker eyeshadows.

I lined the top lid halfway with a silver eyeliner pencil. Then I lined the rest of the lid with a black liner and also put that in the upper and lower waterlines. I lined the lower lash line with Graffiti and Katie's Storm.

Hope you like it!

Is anyone else feeling suffocated because soooo many people write about makeup looks for Valentine's day?! I'm not a fan of Valentine's day, I have never been. It seems as though every year the Valentine's day stuff can be found in stores in the middle of January or earlier. People seem to go crazy because of one day.

You should enjoy everyday with your loved ones, it shouldn't just be that just on February 14th that you do something special. Make everyday a special day!

Some more Glamour Doll

I used Island Chic, Flashdance! and Urban Trash.

First I put NYX\s Jumbo pencil in Milk on the whole lid. Then I used a black pencil liner on my to lash line.

Then I put Island Chic in the inner corner. Flashdance! to the rest of the lid. Then Urban Trash to the outer corner.

Some matte offwhite eyeshadow as a highlight. Urban Trash and Island Chic on the lower lash line.

And finally some black mascara. I recently bought a new mascara which I will talk about soon.

I really do like this look. However this look really is not for me. For me to wear this look without feeling selfconscious, I would have to wear a foundation that is full coverage, and I dont have one like that, and I am not too big of a fan of full coverage foundations. My powder foundation is light-medium coverage and I think it looks very natural and great. Full coverage does not look natural to me. I dont think there are that many people who have perfect skin so then they try to make it seem like they do have one by using a full coverage foundation. You know what I'm trying to say here? Basically, I think that full coverage foundations look fake and I dont want people to focus on my "perfect" skin achieved by a foundtion because my skin is not perfect.

Back to the original topic, I was saying that I do like this look, but it does not suit me as well as other looks. I have some rosacea on my cheeks and this greenish-turqoise of Island Chic just makes the rosacea stand out way too much. I can use some greens without feeling super selfconscious, but this just made my cheeks extra red. You would think that since I have rosacea that I'd like a full coverage foundation, but I really don't. I don't like my freckles either, and I have a lot of them, but I honestly don't believe in perfect, flawless skin with no freckles or moles.

Multicolor

Can you tell I'm excited I bought some Glamour Doll Eyeshadows? :D

All the looks I've done lately have been done by Glamour Doll Eyeshadows and I have another post after this that I did with them.

I did this about a week ago but I hadn't transferred the pictures until today.

Jailhouse Jumpsuit (orange) in the inner corner on the top and bottom. Secretive (light pink) in the middle of the top lid, only a small part, not in the crease.

Olivia Green in the lower part of the crease and a little in the outer corner. Also on the lower lash line closer to the inner corner.

If I remember correctly this is a mixture of MIngles and Flashdance!
I really should've written down which blue I used. The blue is on the top part of the crease and on the outer half of the lower lash line. I think it was like 1/3 of MIngles and 2/3 of Flashdance!

Then I had a reasonably matte soft offwhite as a highlight. I think. I'm pretty sure I'm right.

I used a grey liquid liner and some purple mascara. It actually looks purple in some pictures! That's so great!

Do you just stick with a black or one of the more traditional mascara colors or have you tried something like green or purple? And what did you like of this look?

Golden Ocean

It looks like I have done nothing but try out the new eyeshadows I have. This look is done by using the Glamour Doll eyeshadows, more about them here.

I used Bare Naked, Flashdance!, MIngles and Dusk.

First I put some matte white base on the whole lid. Then I put the first eyeshadow color, MIngles, on half of the lid starting from the outer corner. Then I took Flashdance! and placed that in the inner corner of my eye and blended MIngles with Flashdance! MIngles is a very, very bright matte blue, but it blended extremely well. There's some MIngles and Flashdance! on the lower lash line as well.

At this point I took some Dusk on my brush and placed it lightly to the outer corner and a little to the crease to create depth. Very lightly. Then I took a blending brush and blended the blues, then I did some spot cleaning. After spot cleaning the blending brush I took some Bare Naked to be my highlight and blend in the blues in the outer corner a bit more. And I should've waited a little more for the blending brush to dry, because this is what Bare Naked looks when applied with a moist brush. It looks a lot more like gold. Not a bad eyeshadow color by any means, just not exactly what I was going for. I was looking for a little more matteish beige/skin color, not much shimmer at all.

Black eyeliner and black mascara as usual. :)

Voíla!

I had to do this look twice, because first I put on a black cream base and that just totally destroyed MIngles. It did not look good at all. A white base works 1000 times better.

What do you think?

DinoSpotz

In this look I used some Glamour Doll eyeshadows that I bought recently.

I used Katie's Storm and DinoSpotz. And I used Bare Naked as a highlight/blending helper.

First to the inner quarter or so I put some Katie's Storm. The the rest of the lid and crease I put DinoSpotz which by far is one of my favorites! I used a matte white cream base under the eyeshadows.

I used Bare Naked to help blend DinoSpotz and also sort of as a highlight shadow.

I used the same eyeshadows to line the lower lash line. I used a black liquid liner to line my top lid. Maybelline's Volum Express in black as a mascara.

DinoSpotz is so amazing! It's like a burgundy/brick red/brown with some green glitter. Depending on the direction where the light hits your eyelid the eyeshadow changes.

Have you heard of Glamour Doll Eyeshadows before?
Enjoy your Thursday!

Swatches of Glamour Doll eyeshadows

I believe there pictures are better on the actual website of Glamour Doll, but here are the swatches of the eyeshadow samples that I bought.

Want to see my first look with these shadows, if yes, then click here.

L-R: DinoSpotz, Flashdance!, MIngles, Olivia Green, Secretive and Summer Skies.

I could not capture the magnificent color of DinoSpotz. :( I already know I'm going to order some of these in full size and DinoSpotz is definately one of them. MIngles and Olivia Green are matte.

L-R: Island Chic, Shaded Orchid, Katie's Storm, Graffiti, Lovers Lane and Disco White

The picture of the sample baggies. One without flash and the other with flash. The real color is something in between. I got two black ones, Graffiti is matte black with lime glitter, but you can't see it in the picture. :(

L-R: Skinny Jeans, Jailhouse Jumpsuit, Urban Trash, Glam Girl and Dusk

Skinny Jeans isn't black, it's like green gray or so... Sounds weird huh? Urban Trash is a matte black.

These are the two free samples I got with my order. The picture above does not really match at all to the colors, it's again something in between the two pictures, one taken without flash and the other with.

And here is a bad pic of the swatches.

Do you like them? :D

Glamour Doll Eyes

In December an American company called Glamour Doll had a little sale. (FYI, not being paid for mentioning the company and I bought these shadows myself. etc) They are getting new eyeshadows that are released this Friday (Jan. 8th). The website is mostly closed right now, I'm not entirely sure whether or not you can order anything from there now, except for a few exceptions. The website opens tomorrow, Wednesday January 6th again and the Twilight-collection is released on Friday January 8th.

I hope I got all that right so that I don't give wrong info... I'm pretty sure I did.

I bought 17 eyeshadow samples, most of them created by the owner Vee, and one was created by Mel. Also I got two free samples with my purchase. Those samples Vee chose herself, so I couldn't choose the two. If I remember correctly each eyeshadow purchase gets some samples. For example if you only buy the Goody Balms (lip balms) that are made by Mel, you wont get eyeshadow samples. Only when buying eyeshadows you can get free samples, that you cannot choose yourself, they are chosen for you.

This look I did by Jailhouse Jumpsuit (orange), Glam Girl (purple) and Dusk (blue). Jailhouse Jumpsuit in the inner corner, Glam Girl on the lid and Dusk in the outer corner and a little in the crease.

When I was ordering these I was a little daring if I may say so. I mean I never thought I'd order an orange eyeshadow, let alone that bright of an orange. I didn't think it would be wearable, but it really is! I'm so happy that I'm wrong sometimes. Another "crazy" eyeshadow that I got is Island Chic. My dream is to use the Jailhouse Jumpsuit and Island Chic together, but honestly can you imagine orange eyeshadow with a greenish turquoise eyeshadow? Another favorite of mine is DinoSpotz. Holy smokes what a unique eyeshadow color! In some lighting it looks burgundy but in other lighting it's green! I've never seen anything like it.

Black pencil eyeliner and black mascara. As a highlight I used a matte offwhite eyeshadow by Grimas that I recently bought. I went and bought the eyeshadow palette with 4 shadows that you choose yourself. More about that in a later post.

The other Glamour Doll eyeshadows that I got are: DinoSpotz, Lovers Lane, Disco White, Island Chic, Urban Trash, Graffiti, Skinny Jeans, Shaded Orchid, Katie's Storm, Flashdance!, MIngles, Olivia Green, Summer Skies and Secretive. The two free samples are Bare Naked and Violent.

Island Chic is by Mel, the rest is by Vee. I tried to take pictures of the sample baggies for you, but it didn't quite work yet. I'll do that when I do the swatches... So stay tuned. :D
